Bachelorette Bash

I know I am really late posting this but I’m going to play catch up and share everything anyway. I hosted two events leading up to Sarah’s big day. The first was her bridal shower in August, and then her bachelorette bash in September.

I decided to combine her lingerie shower with her bachelorette party because it made it a lot easier for her friends that lived out of town. I got us a huge room at the Embassy Suites in downtown Fort Worth to stay in for the night. Sarah, me, three of the bridesmaids, and a photographer arrived at the room right at 3pm. Sarah and I had a boudoir shoot in the room that afternoon before the festivities began. We had discussed doing a boudoir session for about a year but never really had a good reason to press the issue. Once Sarah got engaged she knew she wanted to make a boudoir book for her fiance for a wedding gift so we were on a timeline to get it done. I’m so glad we did it together because I don’t think I would have done it otherwise. I might write a post about it later, but for now lets discuss the bachelorette bash.

This is the invite that my husband and I made for the party. He did the custom illustration and I just added in the text and picked the outfit colors. I wanted to personalize the invitation so it would be something she would want to hang onto to remember this night. I think it worked because she loved it!

The girls showed up at 6:30 and we had tons of snacks and mimosas to go around. We all hung out for a while and let Sarah open up her lingerie gifts before hitting the town. We had 8 o’clock dinner reservations at 8.O Restaurant and Bar in the Sundance Square. They have great food, but the martinis are even better. After dinner was over, we headed one block over to the Lone Star Nightclub where we had tables reserved and complimentary champagne to kick off our night. It’s basically 5 bars/clubs in one so the entertainment options were endless. We ended up staying the the dance club area for the rest of the night. It was such a fun girls night out just dancing and having a great time. We ended the night carrying a barefoot bride-to-be back to the hotel room to crash. Waking up the next day was a little painful, but Sarah had an amazing time and that’s all that really matters.

The girls minus 5 who met up with us after this photo was taken.

Bachelorette Bash = Success!

And if anyone is looking for a great place to stay in downtown, I highly recommend the Embassy Suites. The room was huge and fit all of our needs. I would definitely stay there again!

Super Bowl Snacks

Today is the big game! I don’t have a particular connection to either team so it doesn’t really matter who wins at our house. We’re going to keep it low-key and have my mom and her boyfriend over for food and company while we watch the game. Since we are having pizza and dips tonight, I wanted to share a few of my favorite Super Bowl snacks I’ve found on Pinterest.

So who are you cheering for? If I have to pick one, we’ll cheer for the GIANTS!

A Hometown Bridal Shower

Back in August I hosted “the hometown” bridal shower for my best friend Sarah. She currently lives in the DFW area, but the wedding was in our hometown and she needed to have a shower here, too. I didn’t have a theme for the shower because that’s not really Sarah’s style. All of the wedding details were kept pretty traditional, so I tried to just roll with it for the bridal shower as well. The wedding colors were shamrock green and black, so we went with that for the tablecloths, fabric, and napkins.

The entry and guestbook:

Here is the setup for the food and beverage area:

The menu:

  • Cream cheese dip smothered in raspberry chipotle sauce and crackers
  • Turkey and ham pinwheels
  • Spinach quiche
  • Chicken salad and crackers
  • Mixed nuts
  • White chocolate covered pretzels
  • Fruit salad
  • Chocolate covered strawberries
  • Cheesecake bites
  • Brownies

Beverages:

  • Green punch – a big hit!
  • Water with lemon
  • Coffee

We served finger foods that would be easy to eat and not very messy because we had a pretty large crowd. I wanted to keep it simple and I think our layout helped because everyone was able to walk around the entire table.

Sarah received a lot of really nice gifts and she only broke one bow! After she opened her gifts, they were displayed on the bed in the guest bedroom for everyone to get a closer look later if they wanted. It really turned out to be a nice shower and Sarah was very pleased with everything.
