A Surprise Inside!

Now that Christmas has come and gone, I wanted to share on here the Shutterfly card we sent out this year. Little did our family and friends know, there was a BIG surprise inside!

We are both UNT grads so we decided to take some announcement photos on campus since it’s so pretty. Of course our immediate family already knew, but everyone else was shocked! The timing worked out perfectly to put it on a Christmas card. I’m glad it happened that way because I don’t think we would have taken on the extra cost just to send out pregnancy announcements. Either way, we have an exciting 2013 to look forward to!

More details to come… 🙂

Dave Matthews Band: Summer Tour 2012

Back in May we saw Dave Matthews Band in concert at the Gexa Energy Pavilion here in Dallas. We went with my brother, sister-in-law, and another couple we have known for a while. It was the first big outing alone for my brother and SIL since they had their baby, so we let loose a little bit and had a great time. We arrived early so we could get a good tailgating spot. There isn’t much shade to go around at Gexa so you have to arrive early or fry in the Texas sun.

We found a great parking/tailgating space next to a median with a shade tree in the parking lot. We brought several bag chairs, coolers, portable charcoal grill, food, drinks, and some portable speakers so we could jam to some DMB before the concert started.

My brother bought the portable disposable charcoal grill off Amazon for $6 and it was amazing! Which was good, considering our entire meal was riding on that thing working. It was perfect to grill two packages of hot dogs and 4 hamburger patties before it burned out. I was pretty shocked at how well it worked, and so were the passerby’s that stopped to observe the awesomeness that is basically charcoal in a foil pan. Seriously, give it a shot if you need something quick and easy with little clean up. We just poured two bottles of water on it and tossed it in the trash. So simple!

The concert was great, as usual! There was a couple that SLEPT through the entire show. I’m not even joking. They must have been on something because there is no reason why anyone should be allowed to sleep through something that loud! By the time the concert was winding down everyone started taking pictures of them. Probably not the nicest thing to do, but neither is sleeping through a DMB concert!

So there you have it! Simple and inexpensive concert tailgating!

Baby Love…

Remember when I wrote this post when I spent an entire day in a hospital waiting room? Well, it’s about time I share with you part two…

On Monday, November 14th at 8:03pm my nephew was born!

Jaxen - 7 lbs. 15 oz. - 20 1/2 in. long

This was definitely one of the best days of my life. I can hardly put into words the excitement and love I felt on that day and everyday since Jaxen was born. I have been there for births of cousins and friends babies, but this birth tops them all. I stood in the window of the nursery and took approximately 500 photos while crying the entire time. I felt like my heart wanted to jump out of my chest and spread the love to everyone in the room. I’ve never had that kind of feeling over a baby before, but it felt so so good.

Once we were finally allowed back into the room we got to hold him for a little bit before we headed back home for the night. He’s so precious and tiny! I love him so much!

Uncle B

Hopefully someday we will be able to give this precious baby a cousin. Until then, I’m totally content with giving all my love, hugs, and kisses to my sweet nephew. I’m in love!

The Waiting Game

Hello. This is the face of yours truly after a fantastic wake up call at 4:29am letting me know my sister-in-law’s water broke and they were in route to the hospital. After scrambling to get ready and then a 2 1/2 hour car ride, this is also the face of someone who is still sitting in the waiting room at 3pm drinking hot tea. I’m so ready for my precious nephew to arrive, I can’t hardly stand it.

Here’s to hoping for a quick delivery, healthy baby, and that my brother doesn’t pass out!
