Conversations with strangers…

I’m finally at that point where it’s obvious that I’m having a baby and strangers feel comfortable talking to us about it. So far we haven’t encountered any of the annoying people trying to give unwanted advice. Just people making funny and friendly conversation. Here’s some scenes from the last three days:

At the Lowe’s paint center:

Random middle aged guy: “Oh you’re in trouble now!”

Billy: “Haha… yeah”

Random guy: “You know she can’t paint the nursery but she’s going to love you painting that before you know it she’ll have you doing the entire house.”

Billy: “Yeah, hopefully not. Haha”

Random guy: “Oh yeah, next will be the living room and the kitchen and it never ends…”

We both got a kick out of that guy. He was pretty funny and laughing about the whole thing. Lucky for Billy we have so much going on that there isn’t much time to paint other rooms right now. 😉

Conversation with the Lowe’s cashier lady:

Cashier: “When’s the baby due?”

Me: “June 30th”

Cashier: “Do you know what you’re having?”

Me: “Yes, were having a boy.”

Cashier: “LUCKY”

haha… what?! We are thrilled that we are having a little boy but it just makes me wonder what her experience was to respond that way. Maybe she has lots of sisters or lots of girls at home. She’s a really sweet lady though. We always manage to get her as our cashier when we go in.

At Baskin Robbins:

I’m standing near the door eating my chocolate peanut butter ice cream with Billy standing next to me. A couple with their little boy were leaving. On the way out the lady looks down and notices my belly and catches Billy’s eye and says, “good luck” on her way out the door.

We thought it was funny and thanks random lady! 🙂

At Dickie’s BBQ:

Cashier Girl: “When’s you’re baby due? Is that awkward to ask? Haha”

Me: “No, June 30th”

Cashier: “Is it a boy or a girl?”

Me: “It’s a boy.”

Cashier: “Aw that sucks.”

We just laughed and then proceeded to discuss girls vs. boys. It ended up being a pretty interesting/funny conversation. I think she’s in high school and she is ALWAYS working when we come in. I don’t think she realized what she was saying when she said it but we weren’t offended.

I can only imagine we’ll get more comments the further along we go. Just as long as you aren’t one of those crazies I think I can handle it. I’ve heard all kinds of stranger stories from other pregnant friends. I hope those people stay away from me.

Hello 2013!

Cheers to you,

2013-glitter

I am so excited for this new year! There are so many new and exciting things in store for our little family this year and I can’t wait to see it all unfold. I’ve never been one to make new years resolutions, so all I will say on that front is that I hope to learn and grow this year so I can be a better wife, new mother, friend, and co-worker.

Cheers to health, happiness, and love in 2013!

Goodbye 2012

2012 has been a very big year for us. Probably one of the best we have had in a while, and definitely the most eventful when it comes to big events. It was this time last year that we decided we weren’t happy where we were living and decided to move back to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I wanted to make a little timeline of some activities from this year. (The important stuff is in pink!)

January

  • This month was pretty uneventful as we started looking for jobs and telling our family of our plans to move.

February

  • We attended the Neiman Marcus Mardi Gras party and had a great time with my coworkers.
  • Celebrated Billy’s birthday.
  • Celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary with a wonderful day carefully planned out by my sweet husband.
  • Sold my first car I paid for myself to my old boss. So long, mustang!

March

  • Family zoo trip!
  • Billy accepted a job offer and we started the moving process again.
  • I quit my job at NM and we quickly moved into an apartment in DFW. Those were the fastest, most stressful two weeks of our lives.
  • Billy started work at his new company.

April

  • I enjoyed the unemployed life for a little while so I could unpack our apartment.
  • Family Easter egg hunt.
  • Celebrated my27th birthday.
  • Denton Jazz Fest!

May

  • Started job hunting again.
  • Restaurant grand openings, graduation party, wedding, and fun with friends!
  • Accepted a job offer and started work in late May!

June

  • Enjoying being near friends, shopping, and loving life!

July

  • Pool parties and cookouts!
  • 4th of July firework shows.
  • Family reunion in East Texas.

August

  • Balloon festival!
  • Billy started playing flag football.

September

  • College football! That is all.

October

  • More college football games.
  • Saw my first Cirque du Soleil show with a friend.
  • Billy had his wisdom teeth removed.
  • Found out we were PREGNANT! (Oct. 25th)
  • Saw our bebe for the first time!
  • Day of the Dead festival with friends.

November

  • Homecoming football game at UNT
  • Started house hunting!
  • Celebrated my nephew’s 1st birthday!
  • Went home for Thanksgiving.
  • Said goodbye to Billy’s grandma.
  • Heard the bebe’s heartbeat for the first time!

December

  • Went into contract on our first house! It’s almost done being built and will be ready in January!
  • Went to New Orleans for my sister-in-law’s graduation!
  • Saw our little jumping bebe again! So exciting!
  • Celebrated the holidays with family in East Texas.
  • Enjoyed our last Christmas just the two of us at home alone. So peaceful, and it snowed!

This is just a basic list, and it’s definitely not everything, but these are the highlights. With changing careers, moving, getting pregnant, and buying a house, it’s definitely been an year of BIG events! 2012 has gone by so quickly, and I know 2013 won’t be any different. We should close on our house in January and we’ll be rolling through 2013 with excitement of our little one on the way!

2012 has been good to us and we are so blessed with everything we have. I can’t wait to see what 2013 has to offer!

CHEERS! (I’ll be toasting to the new year with a nice cold glass of OJ!)
